Agility

The look on Glider's face says it all in these pictures - she loves agility and has an opinion about it!

Glider loves agility, is fearless, and is a blast to train.  She is incredibly enthusiastic, is very focused, and she loves a challenge.   She absolutely loves tunnels and it's hard to keep her out of them.  Glider loves agility so much that she gets really upset when another dog is working as she always thinks she can do it better and it should be her turn.  I started foundation agility training with Glider as soon as all of her littermates went to their new home and we train to this day, mostly because we just love it.

Glider earned her MACH on February 2, 2014.  Glider got 4th in standard and 3rd in JWW.  Both standard and JWW were very challenging courses and I was so proud of how she handle both of them.  She earned her MACH2 on March 7, 2015.  She has now has 3025 points and 14 double Q's for MACH3.

Glider's agility accomplishments include:

  • Glider was the top Open agility IWS for 2010 and top Excellent A agility IWS for 2010.
  • Glider finished 2011 as the #5 IWS.  She finished #3 IWS for 2012 and #2 for 2013.
  • Glider was ranked #6 for the 2011 AKC agility invitational.
  • Glider qualified as the #2 IWS for the 2012 AKC agility invitational.
  • Glider earned her Time2Beat title on February 16, 2013 and her 2nd T2B title on April 20, 2014
  • Glider qualified as the #2 IWS for the 2013 AKC agility invitational.  Glider had a wonderful time at the 2013 AKC agility invitational.  She had 4 clear rounds and made it to the finals. She was the first ever IWS to make it to the finals and she and Clark made it in 2013.  She was finished 10th overall in the 20" division with 100 dogs competing in the class.  She was so excited in the finals she missed a couple of contacts but what a thrill.  I'm so incredibly proud of her!  She ended the weekend as the top IWS.  She was also the #3 bred-by dog in all heights, #2 rally titled dog in all heights, and #8 in the sporting group all heights.
  • Glider earned her MACH on February 2, 2014.
  • Glider earned her TQX (Triple Qualifying Excellent) title on August 31, 2014.  This title requires the dog to qualify in standard, jumpers and Fast at the master's level all on the same day 10 times. This is a very hard title to achieve and Glider is the first IWS to have earned the title.
  • Glider qualified as the #2 IWS for the 2014 AKC agility invitationls.  She had 3 clear rounds and finished 23rd overall in the 20" class and was the top IWS for the 2nd year in a row.
  • Glider earned her T2B3 title on February 15, 2015
  • Glider earned her MACH2 on March 7, 2015
  • Glider qualified for the AKC agility nationals in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.
  • Glider ran nicely at the 2015 AKC agility invitational. She had a 7th place T2B warm up run and a clean round.  Her other runs were beautiful and fast but just a bar or a missed contact.  She is so much fun to run.

Glider made her agility debut at a trial on August 8, 2009 where she ran in novice jumpers with weaves.  She was very fast and focused on her job.  While we didn't qualify on that run, it was incredibly fun and she showed great promise.  At only her second full agility trial, Glider earned her first novice jumpers with weaves leg.  She earned her 3rd novice jumpers with weaves leg and her NAJ title on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at the Talbot agility trail.  Glider earned her open JWW title on January 30, 2010 in a beautiful 1st place run. She earned her first her first excellent jumpers with weaves leg on February 14, 2010.  On March 28, 2010, Glider had a beautiful jumpers run earning her excellent jumpers with weaves title with a 1st place finish.  She earned her first MXJ leg and first MACH points with a beautiful jumpers run and won 3rd place (14 points) on May 8, 2010.  Glider earned her MXJ title on Friday, January 28, 2011 with a beautiful run on a very fun course.

Glider earned her Novice Standard title on November 28, 2009 with a beautiful first place run.  Glider earned two open standard legs on February 6th and 7, 2010.  She earned her open standard title on February 13, 2010.  Glider earned her excellent standard (AX) title on August 14, 2010 with a beautiful and fast run.  Glider earned her first MX leg on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the Wilmington KC show.  I would love to say it was a smooth run but hey, we qualified.  Glider earned her 2nd MX leg on Sunday, May 29, 2011.  Glider finished her MX title on November 20, 2011 at the Mountaineer agility trial.  It was a really challenging course but she handled it beautifully.

Glider earned her novice FAST title on February 20, 2010.  Glider earned her first Open Fast leg at the 2010 IWS national specialty with 1st place run.  She earned her 2nd and 3rd Open Fast legs at the Oriole dog training club trial on May 8th and 9th, 2010.  Glider earned her excellent Fast (XF) title on September 5, 2010 with a very challenging send.  Glider earned her master FAST title (MXF) on September 17, 2011 with a beautiful Fast run.  I continue to run Glider in Fast and we earned our first triple Q on Friday, April 27, 2012.

Glider competed at the 2013 AKC agility invitationals in Orlando, Florida December 13-17, 2013.  Glider ran great and she had 4 clean rounds and the videos are below.  This is the first time Glider and I have ever had 4 perfect runs in a row.  Those runs earned her a spot in the finals, a first for any IWS.  Unfortunately both Glider and I were a little excited going into the finals but I couldn't be more proud of her and how we ran together.

I don't video tape my runs often but I did purchase taped runs at the Oriole trial December 9-11, 2011.  Here are Glider's runs. On Friday, 12/9 she took 3rd place in JWW.  She had two "almost" runs on Sunday but they were a blast.  Also is a beautiful standard run she did on April 29, 2012.
