Nose Work

Glider with me when she earned her NW1 title on March 24, 2013

Along with agility and the other sports, I have also been training Glider in a new sport called K9 nose work.  She loves it and I love watching her learn.  Before you can compete in a trial, you have to pass an Odor Recognition Test (ORT).  Glider passed her odor recognition test (ORT) on February 25, 2012.  The dog has 3 minutes to find and alert to the odor and Glider did it in 6.7 seconds.  At the nose work level 1, a dog has to find the odor (birch) in four searches.  The searches are an interior, exterior, vehicle and container search.  Glider earned her Nose Work 1 (NW1) title at her first trial on March 24, 2013.  She was very focused and worked great.  She even got 3rd place on her exterior search.
