Ryan showing his love of agility (left) and pictured with his first agility ribbons and his first agility title (novice Fast) January 1, 2012

Ryan loves agility and is a blast to train.  He is very enthusiastic and loves the game.  He really loves the wood obstacles (a-frame, dog walk and teeter) and also loves the weaves.  He likes to add his own flair to running and he can be goofy at times but it's always very fun to train him and run him at trials.  I just love his heart and his willingness to give everything his all.  He ins incredibly nimble and light on his feet.  He is also pretty fast and I think his speed will only pick up as he gains more and more confidence and we come together as a team.

Ryan earned his first MACH on March 7, 2015.  He now has 2737 points (he needs 750) and 18 double Q's towards MACH2.

Ryan's agility accomplishments include:

  • Ryan finished 2012 as the #6 IWS in agility.  Pretty good considering he didn't start earning points until May, 2012.
  • Ryan was the top Novice B, Open A and Excellent A agility IWS in 2012.
  • Ryan finished #5 IWS for the year 2013.
  • Ryan earned his Time2Beat title on November 24, 2013.  He earned his 2nd T2B title on November 8, 2014.
  • Ryan qualified as the #4 IWS for the 2013 AKC agility invitational.  He had a great 1st AKC agility invitational.  He ran two clear rounds, the 2nd and 3rd rounds.  In the 2nd JWW round, Ryan finished 8th and in the 3rd round, he was 14th out of 125 24" dogs competing.  He finished #3 IWS out of the 5 competing and finished #56 in the 24" division.
  • Ryan qualified as the #3 IWS for the 2014 AKC agility invitational.
  • Ryan qualified for the 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 AKC agility nationals.
  • Ryan earned his T2B3 title on November 21, 2015
  • Ryan earned the Top IWS medal at the 2015 AKC agility invitational with 3 clean rounds and a 8 point T2B warm up run.  He only had two missed contacts in the 2nd round but he had a 20th place 1st round, 11th place 3rd round and a 13th place 4th round.  He had a great invitational.

Ryan made his agility debut at the Salisbury Maryland Kennel Club trial New Year's weekend (December 30 - January 1, 2012).  I ran him in novice Fast only to see how he would handle the trial ring environment and to have fun.  Ryan had a great weekend.  He held beautiful start lines, did great on his contacts and ran with lots of speed and joy.  He couldn't believe he actually got to run on the first day and on the second, he got it all figured out and ran with tons of gusto.  His best run was on Sunday, the last run of the weekend when he did everything smoothly and fast.  He far exceeded my expectations by qualifying all 3 days and earning his first agility title, novice Fast.  What a way to start the new year.  At Ryan's next trial (Lexington, VA January 13-15, 2012), he got an open Fast leg the first time running in the class.  Ryan went on to earn his open FAST title on February 12, 2012.  Ryan earned his first excellent Fast leg on Friday, July 13, 2012 and he earned his second leg on September 1, 2012, both 1st places.  Ryan earned his excellent FAST title on October 7, 2012 with a first place.

He made his debut in novice jumpers with weaves the weekend of January 13-15, 2012 and he earned his first leg on Sunday, January 15th.  He completed his title by earning two novices legs the weekend of February 4-5, 2012. Ryan earned his 2nd Open JWW leg on March 17, 2012.  Ryan earned his Open JWW title on Saturday, March 24, 2012 with a beautiful run. Ryan earned his first two excellent A JWW legs the weekend of April 7 & 8, 2012.  Ryan earned his excellent agility title (AXJ) on his 2nd birthday, April 29, 2012.  He had a beautiful 1st place run.  Ryan earned his master excellent jumpers (MXJ) title on November 10, 2012.

Ryan made his novice standard debut on January 29, 2012 in State College, PA and he qualified with a first place.  Ryan earned his second novice standard leg on February 4, 2012.  Ryan finished his novice standard title on February 11, 2012 with a beautiful 1st place run.  Ryan earned his first Open standard qualifying run on February 17, 2012.  He earned his second Open leg on March 11, 2012.  Ryan earned his Open standard title on Sunday, March 25, 2012 with a clean run and first place.  Ryan earned his first Excellent Standard leg on July 13, 2012 with beautiful 1st place run.  He earned his second Excellent Standard leg on July 21, 2012 with a second place.  He earned his Excellent Standard (AX) title on July 29, 2012 with a first place run.  Ryan earned his first MX leg on August 12, 2012.

Ryan competed at the 2013 AKC Agility Invitational in Orlando, Florida December 13-15, 2013.  This was Ryan's first really big event and he was ranked 4th going into the invitationals.  He ran great and handled the chanlleging courses really well.  He had two clean rounds.  He finished 8th in round #2 and 14th in round #3.  Now I just need to work on the consistency of his contacts as he would be very competitive.  Ryan qualified #3 for the 2014 AKC agility invitational.
