Ryan with his ribbon from his first JH leg (May 2, 2015)                                                Ryan training in the field in March 2013

Ryan is an incredibly birdie dog and he has a lot of natural field ability.  He absolutely loves to do what the breed was originally bred to do, retrieve birds.  He is a joy to train, he is very serious and he learns incredibly quickly.  He has a lot of natural ability to maintain focus and control as a pup but as he really learned what all of this is about, some of his ability to maintain control in the blinds has disappeared.  Luckily he still has very nice line manners. He also loves to swim and I can never keep him out of water.  Ryan earned his working certificate (WC) at the 2013 IWSCA national specialty.  He got it on his first try.  While he was a little goofy at times, he did great.  We have been training for junior hunt tests.  Ryan earned his first leg toward his JH title on May 2, 2015.  He did a great job. Ryan earned his second JH leg on May 16, 2015. Ryan earned his 3rd JH leg on June 6, 2015 at the Keystone Retriever Club test at Rebel Ridge farms in Elkton, Maryland.  I had run several hunt tests with Scout there and one with Clark and had never passed until the test with Ryan.  Ryan earned his 4th JH leg (and JH title) on June 13, 2015 at the Buckeye Retriever Club trial in Ohio.  He did a fabulous job and had beautiful water marks.
